b. 1987

Based in London, UK

The work of Lewis Teague Wright explores anomalies of occupation and ownership through the examination of ritual and identity. This Disorientation and uncertainty is expressed in film, photography, performance and sculpture. He re-imagines or conceals the traditional symbolism of objects and ideas, imbuing them with personal and site specific significance.

His interest in anthropology informs his development and construction of props and costumes that seek to reveal and conceal narrative and meaning. These are a vehicle to question and create new personal rituals. Lewis’ current work draws from the sea; an examination of navigational devices, mapping, buoys, an interpretation of their significance.
